Come visit the Bell Tower..!

The Bell Tower officially opened in Barrack Square on 10 December, 2000 and since then more than 680,000 people from all over the world have visited this fascinating attraction.

The Bell Tower are an integral part of Perth's heritage and something that every Western Australian should experience – including The History and Development of Barrack Square.

More than 85 schools groups per year enjoy a unique glimpse into the history of this State and its connection with the historic bells from London’s most famous Royal Church, St Martin in the Fields in Trafalgar Square... and been engaged in interactive demonstrations available nowhere else in the world!!!

The Bell Tower is a safe and controlled environment and our experienced staff are skilled at dealing with large groups of students and adults alike. Discover that the Bell Tower now includes more – with a growing collection of antique bells, clocks and bell-related material from all over the world.

Interactive demonstrations are run for schools by experienced volunteer ringers with police clearances, who provide a unique opportunity for students to participate by chiming a historic bell. Presentations can be adapted to suit any age group.

A comprehensive teacher’s guide has been developed especially for middle and upper primary, to include a section on cross-curricular activities with pre- and post-excursion ideas, exhibit questions, as well as worksheets on subjects relating to the Bell Tower.

Key links to curriculum. The Bell Tower collection and location – link all with curriculum links to the learning areas of English, Mathematics, Society and the Environment, Arts, Technology and Enterprise, Health and Physical Education and LOTE.

Topics to focus on include curriculum links to Society and Environment Strands: Time, Continuity and Change; Place and Space and Processing and Interpreting Information; to the Science Strand: Understanding Concepts; the Mathematics Number Strand and the Arts Ideas and Arts Skills and Processes Strands of the Arts Learning Area.

Many school groups link their visit to the Bell Tower with a working tour of the city or a ferry trip to the Perth Zoo.

The cost is just $4 per student.

For secondary students one teacher/supervisor for every 10 children is free of charge.

For primary school children one teacher/supervisor for every five children is free of charge.

Any additional adults with the schoool group will be at a special discounted rate of $4.50.

 

We also have concessions for other groups.

Groups of more than ten people will have a special discounted rate of $6.00 per adult , $4.50 for Pensioners and $4.00 for students and children.

 

A minimum group size of ten (10) students.
